Berserk Films is the creative development company of director, screenwriter and producer Elfar Adalsteins. Elfar studied filmmaking at the Met Film School at Ealing Studios and holds an MA (honours) in screenwriting from Goldsmiths University, London.

As a producer, Elfar has worked on a wide range of indie films, including Mamma Gógó, What Maisie Knew and the newly released award winning documentary The Home Game.

His short film, Sailcloth, starring the late renowned John Hurt (Elephant Man, Midnight Express), was shortlisted for the 2012 Academy Awards and the British Film & Television Awards, as well as receiving multiple international festival accolades.

Elfar’s directorial feature debut, End of Sentence, a father-and-son road movie, starring Oscar nominee John Hawkes (Winter’s Bones, The Sessions), Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Sarah Bolger (Sons of Anarchy), had its worldwide release in 2019, to critical acclaim.

In his latest film, Summerlight & Then Comes the Night, Elfar directs an all Icelandic ensemble cast from his screenplay adaptation based on Jón Kalman Stefánsson’s celebrated novel, including Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Trapped, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) and Sara Dögg Ásgeirsdóttir (True Detective, White White Day). The film premiered in the Best of Fest selection at Tallinn Black Nights IFF in 2022 and was awarded the Best Nordic Film award at the Santa Barbara IFF.

Elfar lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium.
