Berserk Films is the creative development company founded by director, screenwriter, and producer Elfar Adalsteins.
Elfar studied filmmaking at the Met Film School, Ealing Studios, and holds an MA (Hons) in screenwriting from Goldsmiths University, London.
His short film Sailcloth, starring the late renowned John Hurt (The Elephant Man, Midnight Express), was shortlisted for both the 2012 Academy Awards and the British Film & Television Awards, and garnered multiple festival accolades.
Elfar’s feature directorial debut, End of Sentence, a father-and-son road trip drama starring Oscar nominee John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone), Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower), and Sarah Bolger (Sons of Anarchy), received critical acclaim following its worldwide release in 2019.
In his most recent work, Summerlight & Then Comes the Night, Elfar adapted Jón Kalman Stefánsson’s acclaimed novel and directed an ensemble cast of Icelandic talent, including Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Trapped) and Sara Dögg Ásgeirsdóttir (True Detective). The film premiered in the “Best of Fest” section at the 2022 Tallinn Black Nights International Film Festival and won the Best Nordic Film award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
As a producer, Elfar has worked on a wide renge of independent films, including Mamma Gógó, What Maisie Knew, and the award-winning documentary The Home Game.
Elfar lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium.
